About Membership

The Crossroads Brass Band received a standing ovation from music educators all around the state of Indiana following their performance at the 2024 Indiana Music Educators Association Conference.

Welcome!

We are so glad you are interested in joining the Crossroads Brass Band! Please be patient as some times the review period for potential new members can take some time to ensure we are meeting the needs of the ensemble while actively recruiting new members. This page is a great place to start as it will have important information that will help you understand what to expect while requesting to join the crossroads brass band! A more detailed guide to how to be successful with this group will be distributed upon membership induction.

Declaration of Non-Discriminatory Policy

The Crossroads Brass Band does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin(ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.

Rehearsal Schedule

The brass band rehearses regularly on Wednesday nights from 7PM-9PM at Allisonville Christian Church in Indianapolis. Occasionally, we have rehearsals in the Ruth Lily Concert Hall at the University of Indianapolis. Members are expected to show up on time ready to rehearse every week that they are available. Substitutes are expected to be at the final two rehearsals minimum and should have their music prepared ahead of time. We have a fairly easy process for communicating when members need to miss a concert and/or rehearsal and are flexible around work schedules and other commitments.

Concert Attire

Summer
Coming Soon! The board of directors is currently working on a plan to change our summer attire from the current traditional black polos and khaki shorts to something a little more weather appropriate for outdoor concerts. More details to come!

Non-Summer
Black Button down shirt or polo, black slacks, black socks, black shoes. Red crossroads issued tie.

Christmas
We do two Christmas concerts every year and allow band members to wear their normal non-summer attire mixed with holiday flare (Santa hat, elf ears, neck garland, etc.)

Concert Schedule

The Crossroads Brass Band maintains a promising community band ensemble performance schedule with a moderately high number of performances. On average, we perform approximately 10 times a year which includes 4-5 summer performances, and 1-2 travel destinations (non-local) to festivals or competitions.
